On behalf of the entire Alchemy team, I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Francisco Ruiz as Alchemy's inaugural Senior Fellow.
Dr. Ruiz brings more than two decades of experience across HIV policy, public health, and community engagement, including serving as Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP), and, most recently, as Senior Advisor for Program Innovation and Coordination at the CDC.
He has sat in the rooms where HIV policy gets written and worked alongside the community organizations, clinics, and public health leaders responsible for putting it into practice. That ability to connect policy, systems, and what’s happening on the ground is part of what makes Francisco such a strong fit for this fellowship.
As Senior Fellow, Dr. Ruiz will work alongside our team and safety-net providers to strengthen strategic partnerships, elevate what’s working across our network, and explore how policy, sustainable financing, and new models of care can expand access to essential medicines.
We’re building this role at an important moment for safety-net providers. Breakthroughs in prevention and treatment will only fulfill their promise if the organizations closest to patients have the capacity and resources to deliver them. Dr. Ruiz’s ability to translate policy into practical solutions will be central to helping Alchemy and our partners bridge that gap.
This is also the first chapter of something bigger: the Alchemy Fellowship, a new platform that brings experienced leaders into Alchemy for applied, hands-on work on some of the most persistent challenges in healthcare access. As our inaugural Senior Fellow, Francisco will also help us shape what that model can become.
